The reveal…continued

July 7, 2009 · 2 Comments

After posting the photos of our new kitchen last week, Jill asked me to put up a close-up of the quartz counter-top. It is so highly polished that every photo has a glare. It’s difficult to get the correct color to show. I think I took about 60 photos of the quartz!

The following photo is the best I was able to get.  We chose a color called “Space Black” from Zodiaq.  Doc fell in love with the color when he spotted it and tried every which way to finagle that into our choices.   He succeeded, of course.  I really like the color, too.  The background is black and the color speckles are clear quartz and various shades of gold and ocher and brown…perfect with the cabinet color and especially the travertine.

That’s a reflection of part of the camera and my hand in the upper left hand corner.

I also wanted to show the knobs and pulls we selected.  They are simple stock items from the Blue Big Box Store (my second home during all of the remodeling) and are oil-rubbed bronze.  Again, the color works great with the other components of the kitchen.

I am soooo happy to finally have those pulls on.  Trying to pull open a door or drawer while carefully working your fingers into the sides without scratching the wood with your nails is difficult.  (Right, Jill?)

As for the other very important thing in my life, little Aiden is reported to be growing by leaps and bounds.  Laura said he weighed 17 pounds about a week ago.  He’s smiling and laughing now (so sweet!), but is suffering from another bout of congestion.  Apparently the little fella is like the rest of his allergy-prone family.  He gets good reports from his caretakers in daycare and always has a smile for his Mommy when she picks him up.  Doc and I have already bought our plane tickets for our next visit.  We can’t let too much time go between visits.
