Hot and stormy

June 20, 2009 · 4 Comments

The weather this week has been stormy, with lots of thunder and lightning, but very little rain here along Florida’s west coast.  The clouds have been interesting.

June 18, 2009 Interesting clouds

The winds will blow, but they’re blowing the rain clouds inland.  We could certainly use a lot of rain.  We’re in a three-year drought, and even car-washing is banned (unless you want to pay a $200 fine just to drive a clean car that will be dusty three hours later).  I suppose if enough people washed their cars on the same day, someone would probably lose their home to a sinkhole.

The forecast for today is another hazy, hot, and humid day.  The headlines of this morning’s paper warn of a heat index possibly reaching 110 degrees.  This morning’s sunrise even looks hot.

Yeah, I’m going to try to stay indoors this weekend…at least as much as possible.

Now that was a great artistic shot of a palm tree. Isn’t it odd that God made such trees for hot places which provide so little shade?

I feel for you. Of course it isn’t like you’ve got nothing to do inside….and if it is any comfort, it looks rainy and thundery here too today so I’ll be stuck inside as well. B. and Jeff plan a golf outing this afternoon when the storms should be the greatest…but you know how golfers are. Why let rain and lightening stop a “good” day for golf. (Good= any day that ends with the letter Y.)

Oh, I don’t envy you those temperatures. Hope some cooling rain falls….we are in a drought too and no one is supposed to wash their cars, except at a professional car wash…mine is a bit dusty at the moment too.

    Beautiful photos, despite the heat.

Miss Kitty has been very lazy but I think she may come visit Smokey in a few days and even post something on her blog. In the meantime, she sends a hello.

Ooops….Miss Kitty apologizes. She means Spooky, not Smokey! We had a Smokey here a few years ago.

We had 5 inches of rain last Thursday night! Too much too fast, what a mess.

The clouds in that top picture are very cool :)
