The house has kept me fairly busy this week…there are lots of details that pop up, and an ever-lengthening shopping list. Normally I wouldn’t mind shopping, but this is for hardware and toilets and things like that. That’s difficult enough on its own, but when you live in a still-unfamiliar area, those things take time and research.
We have made countless trips to the two Big Box stores (the blue one and the orange one). On the way to one this week, we had some rain showers. Not enough to touch our severe drought, but it certainly looked threatening enough.
Yesterday, while deliberating over paint colors yet again (some small changes have been made and I’m back to square one on the kitchen color), I looked up from my spot on the floor through the now-bare window at the gorgeous blue skies – not a thing like the sky above! I’d like to leave the window uncovered, but I really need something to give us some privacy when it’s dark out. Still working on that.
I don’t think my kitchen paint color is here. Still looking…
Doc and I have neglected our Wednesday night dates these past several weeks because of the house selling and buying and renovating. We’ve decided we have to take a night off and just go out tonight, so I’m heading out to meet him!
(Laura, you cannot call tonight! We need a break! Tell “Ace” to stay right where he is!

That dark sky picture is great! Gotta love those southern stormy skies. The blue through the window was pretty neat too. How about an enormous electric retractible shade outside for when you need privacy? (I think I am kidding…maybe they do actually make those!)
I totally sympathize with you and running shopping errands in a new town. One more thing to feel frazzled about. At least you aren’t doing all this in snow. Or a hurricane….
Yellow kitchen…lime kitchen…mango kitchen….hmmmmm….

Hmmm…Jill, my previous kitchen was accented in purples and greens – all from the vineyard. I may have to offer up that package of decor and linens to someone else so that I can do the beachy theme in there.
Mango…yum.

I am so jealous of your date nights. My hubby works nights. Some mornings we stop in the middle of the road, and talk.

If there is anyone who can relate to your circumstance it must be Jill. I do hope that the color you pick will feel right once everything is in its place. .that is so hard.
I hope you find your way around .. .and get that privacy issue figured out on that window.

I love the sand paint colors!. I always went with warm tones in the kitchen. I’m guessing that tile is the countertop sample? So you’d want to determine whether you want the counter to be darker or lighter than your paint color and go from there. I know I’m having a hard time deciding on painting the kitchen cabinets darker or putting in a darker counter top (and all of this is running through my head about a house we don’t even own yet)!

Mary, the larger piece of tile is from the floor (already installed as of yesterday). The small, dark sample beside it is a piece of quartz that Doc wants for the counter. I’m hesitant to go that dark (we’re also backing up and looking at treated granite as opposed to quartz). I don’t have a sample of the cabinets, but the color is close to that tiny little square in the book right up against that larger tile (spiced honey). I’m using paint colors from those three strips near the top of the photo…the strip sticking out of the fan book has a color I’m sort of interested in for the kitchen, but I haven’t run it past Doc yet, and it’s really not in the beachy color-theme.
I do hope something positive comes from your house-buying ordeal…I know you feel as if the rug has been yanked out from beneath you right now. Just have faith that it will work out for the best, whichever way it works out.
