The last several days have been crazy-busy. All is well – we just stayed really busy.
On Saturday, we made a quick trip back for our softball team’s end-of-season party. We didn’t stay in town, which meant we had a two-hour-plus drive each way that evening. The party was fun, and Doc was honored with some fun gifts and lots of hugs and kidding, since he will no longer be coaching the team.
On Sunday morning, we stopped at a church to pick up tickets for an upcoming drama/concert, and then we visited the first of several churches in the area. The photo above is from one of that church’s stained glass windows. Welcoming church full of friendly people, but very small attendance at the third service (holiday weekend)…we’ll revisit it on a “normal” Sunday.
After eating lunch out, we came back to the apartment to change and then drove around a.very.long.time looking at neighborhoods and homes. We’ve decided to definitely stay in the apartment for a year – maybe longer – until we learn more about the area: schools (resale potential), flood zones (hurricanes do happen here!), convenience, and many other factors that need to be considered. Of course, we still have a house to sell first.
Monday – Memorial Day – we just hung out around the apartment. Doc was having back problems and wanted to take it easy. He spent a little time in the very crowded pool exercising his back. It wasn’t any better on Tuesday morning, so he took the day off and we drove back to the house (ugh, another long day of driving) to see our son, take care of some business, and get the pressure-washer repaired and hauled back. After getting back, we stopped at the grocery and pharmacy and finally got to the apartment. Miss Spooky was none too happy with us for leaving her for such a long day. Again. Then, I still had to wash a couple of loads of laundry before calling it a night.
Today’s tasks:
Return a library book
Stop at the pet store for more meds for Spooky
Stop at Target
Finish the laundry
Plan dinner
Contact the Realtor
Clean, clean, clean…
I’ll get back into the swing of things soon…maybe by the end of the week. Just in time for another weekend back at the house. Argh.
