Is it Monday morning already?
Forgive me for being repetitive, but this traveling back and forth between house and apartment is getting really old. It’s especially been hard on our poor laptop. It was already several years old when we acquired it a few years ago as a hand-me-down (hmmm…if it’s passed from child to parent, shouldn’t that be “hand-me-up?”). The power supply connection is weak and functions only if you hold the cable in at the correct angle and press in (which means having only your right hand available for keyboarding), and it no longer charges the battery. It was easier to pretend we were without a computer all weekend. I was able to check my email and do a little mini-twittering on my cell phone, but I kept that to a minimum. I dreaded logging into Bloglines this morning, knowing the numbers would be huge…1390 unread posts!?! Which of you has been over-posting this weekend?
Excuse me, please, if I don’t get them all read!
We know that we have at least two more drives back to the house. This coming weekend will just be an overnighter. The pool refinishing will be complete, so we’ll powerwash the pool deck and load up the last of our “stuff.” The carpeting will be in place, so we’ll finish cleaning the house before the sign goes up next week. The following weekend, Doc will be playing his t-bone for all of the weekend services at church.
Our frequent absences have been especially hard on Spooky. She has been nervous and unsettled since we brought her to the apartment. A short time prior to the move, she began to develop some bad habits and odd behaviors. After several trips to the Vet’s office, and one long stay, it was decided that she was just being affected by the move. She is on behavior modification medication (“kitty prozac,” as the Vet calls it), but in the past couple of weeks, she has begun to lose weight, too. The Vet keeps telling us there is nothing else to do short of taking her to a cat psychiatrist. As much as we love our Spooky, I don’t think that’s a realistic solution. Does anyone have any experience with a depressed cat?
Well, enough of that. It’s Monday. There’s a ton of laundry to do, a lot of cleaning to catch up with, and a couple more boxes to empty. Then I have several boxes to relocate to storage. This place is finally beginning to look habitable!
