Where did April go?

It’s May 1st already? This has been such an incredibly busy month with the moving and cleaning and packing and unpacking and driving back and forth (and back and forth and back…), as well as the usual keeping up with life in general. I certainly have come up short in the blogging area lately. For a few more weeks, it’ll probably be hit-or-miss, but I’ll still be visiting my blog-friends.

It’s only Thursday, but Doc and I are driving back to the house tonight (rather than on Friday evening), as I have the last (I hope) of all my doctor visits for the year tomorrow morning. Then I’ll have to start looking for new physicians here. I’d almost prefer just driving back over there (2 hours, 15 minutes each way) to see the doctors I already have, but with the price of gas these days, not to mention that I’m driving an 11-year-old gas guzzler, I really need to keep it local.

Our Wednesday date night was a bit different last night. Rather than heading to the beach or one of the area parks, we shopped for work shoes for Doc. Since he works in health care, infection control is critical. Proper eyewear, face protection, scrubs, gloves, and so on are a given, but those little disposable covers that fit over shoes just weren’t getting it. I’m not getting reimbursed for advertising, so I won’t mention any brand names, but a popular shoe now makes two styles (here and here) that are designed for the medical profession and are easily bleached for sterilization, with good traction on the soles, that are comfy, too. I never thought I’d do this, but Doc kept commenting how comfortable they were, so I tried on a pair, too. Of course, I bought them. It helped that the store had a 15%-off-everything sale yesterday. So, new shoes and dinner out – that was our Wednesday night date.

I’ve been reading a few blogs this morning, and I always find a bit of inspiration at Lovella’s. Her post from yesterday was no different. Her words are especially meaningful to me during all of this confusion.

“I don’t intend to let the busyness of life rob me
of the moments that are a gift to me.”

With that in mind, I’ll end this post. I’ll spend a few more minutes reading and visiting before I get busy and began packing for the weekend. The old laptop computer is dying a slow and painful death, so computer time will probably be very limited or non-existent this weekend. That means I can have more time to spend with Doc, possibly with our son, and hopefully with our friends.

Have a great weekend!
